HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR SILVER CHARMS AND JEWELLERY
Our charms and jewellery is made to last, but proper care will help it last forever.
Most of the jewellery at Ritz and Ron is silver here are some tips on how to keep them shining.
Silver is a beautiful precious metal and needs a little special care. Exposure to the air, moisturisers, hairspray and perspiration will cause natural tarnish.
Tarnishing happens as a natural consequence of the metal interacting with the molecules in sulphur. Sulphur is present both in the air and other common household items. It can also occur if the metal is in contact with salt, direct sunlight and chlorinated water.
Cleaning:
Clean by washing with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse, dry thoroughly with a soft, lint free cloth, then polish with a special anti-tarnish silver polishing cloth.
Cleaning with baking soda and water. Create a paste of baking soda and water and use a clean cloth to apply a small amount to the silver and polish. Run the jewellery under running warm water, and dry with a clean cloth.
Storage:
Make sure your jewellery case is relatively air-restricted and keep it closed unless you are actively opening and closing the case.
Store your jewellery separately in a soft satin pouch to avoid scratching.
Silver loves a dark and dry environment, away from sunlight.
Lastly, the more you wear it, the less care it will need.
